Jeep Commander and a travel trailer

We currently own a 19' shamrock and tow with a Grand Cherokee. Its ok but almost to the limit wight wise. We may go to a slightly heavier trailer, (about 5,500LBS) and are considering a Commander or Cherokee with a larger engine. Any input on these vehicles with at least the 4.7 V8 would be appreciated. The Length of the trailer will not exceed 25' Thanks....

Towing with Jeep

We tow a shamrock 19' with a Grand Cherokee and have no problems but we are considering a slightly heavier trailer, and may want the bigger engine. Any feed back on the Grand Cherokee and the Commander would be appreciated. Hows the 4.7 engine, ride, economy etc. I can check the tow ratings but like to hear the stories from owners. Thanks again and happy healthy camping to all!

Lightning storms in a trailer

We camp alot on the beach. Not hookups, just the hybrid and the dog. During a storm how safe are you in a trailer that may be the tallest thing around? Are the tires good grounding? Will the tanks attract a strike? Any input would be appreciated Thanks.

RE: Expected Campground Compensation?

We are researching workamping for the near future, as a way of seeing some more of the country while not draining our retirement to fast. The only negitive comments I have heard is that some campground owners will try and over work you.
This seems to happen more in places where there are few campgrounds. (one example LONG ISLAND NY) I talked to one workamper couple there and they did well as far as salary but worked alot more than agreed to at the onset. They stuck it out but won't be back.... On retirement it should be an easy schedule don't you think?

RE: Anybody cancel Disney because of fuel prices ?

I couldn' agree more with Dodge Guy. I was brought up traveling all over and wherever my parents could afford ,(we always camped) It has provided the best memories, and many great learning experiences. My wife and I have many intterests, but travel and camping ar at the top of the list. FCHAmmer1 your right too!

camping on Long Island NY

I would be interested in hearing from others regarding camping
on Long Island. We have done it for years and wonder what others think of the few east end campgrounds, especially the private ones. Also would like to hear about the state and county parks. All opinions both appreciated and respected. Thanks, and happy, healthy camping to all!

Spring camping in Montauk NY

Hey! Heres hoping alot of good camping is on its way in 2008! We camped last year in Montauk on the beach at Theodore Roosevelt Pk. Loved it and want to go back. How is it in early April? To windy for a Hybrid trailer? Temp is not to much of a worry, but only so much wind can be handled. Any comments would be appreciated. Happy and Healthy camping to all.
